Our wounds are often openings to the best and most beautiful parts of us – David RichoI

I approach counseling very eager to make a connection with you, because this is what I value above all else. The integrity and quality of our relationship has a significant impact on how deeply you will benefit from therapy. I want to provide you with a safe space to process your issues, while providing understanding and support. I will help you take a closer look at any thoughts, behaviors, or patterns that do not seem to be working for you.I will be here each step of the way as you try out new approaches and tools tailored to meet your needs. We will be partners in finding the solutions to your problems and reaching your personal goals.I consider my approach to be eclectic in nature, drawing on many theories and schools of thought. I do not believe there is one correct way to provide therapy, and strive to tailor my approach to fit your needs as an individual.

Over the years, I have received feedback from clients that I’m easy to talk to, good humored, genuine or “real”, and non-judgmental. I am grateful to be a therapist and get to do what I'm passionate about for a living. We are all individuals and have different perceptions, but collectively struggle with similar issues. I love helping clients through rough times so that they can achieve a greater sense of happiness and balance.

I earned a M.A. degree in Counseling & Guidance from Louisiana Tech University in 2009. Nearly a decade earlier, I received my introduction to the helping profession. As an undergraduate, I worked 3 years providing support to victims of domestic abuse in a local shelter. It was there I became acutely aware of how much I loved not only listening to the stories of the clients I worked with, but feeling as if the support I offered had made a difference. I later went on to work in a variety of settings: as a Social Services Director at a nursing and rehabilitation center; as a Psychotherapist at a counseling center for women; and as a Substance Abuse Counselor for a long-term residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. I currently run my own private practice. I have conducted both individual and group therapy for nearly a decade, and have been active in the helping profession overall for 15 years. The combination of frequent moves due to a military lifestyle, and exposure to clients on a global scale, has fostered a culturally sensitive approach to my work.I’m a member of the American Counseling Association, and the National Board for Certified Counselors. I’ve undergone additional training to become certified in distance counseling.
