About

I believe positive change is achieved by attaining insight into the origins of difficulties, gaining self-awareness, and learning new patterns of relating to oneself and others. My intention in my therapeutic work is to assist clients in highlighting and focusing on patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior that lead to difficulties in one's life and relationships. With increased awareness of underlying motivations, clients will be ideally positioned to make changes in their thoughts and resulting emotions, behaviors, and relationships. I tailor each client's treatment to specifically address their unique difficulties.

Some of my areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, difficulties with life transitions and stressors, self-esteem and identity concerns, relationship difficulties, death and grief counseling, spiritual/existential issues, and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender identity concerns.

Education
From 2002 to 2008, I attended the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University Chicago; a professional school of clinical psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association located in downtown Chicago. During my academic training, I participated in several year-long clinical placements in such settings as DePaul University Counseling Services, Howard Brown Health Center (a community mental health center serving the LGBTQ communities of Chicago), and in a private practice setting. I completed my Pre-Doctoral Internship at the University of Pittsburgh Counseling Center and earned my Doctor of Psychology degree in 2008 with a concentration in Psychoanalytic Psychology. I worked in private practice for a couple of years prior to beginning my Post-Doctoral Residency at Duquesne University Counseling Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2011, I became licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois. I am currently a member of the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis, and I am also a long-time member in good standing of the American Psychological Association.
