I am an honest, “what you see is what you get†kind of person. I have a warm, authentic approach that helps my clients build trust easily. I thrive in outdoor settings and love camping and hiking in the natural beauty of ldaho’s lakes and mountains. Currently, I live in the country with my husband, three kids, three chickens, a dog, rabbit, parakeet, cow, and two horses. I am a volunteer leader for teenage girls at my church and teach Zumba and dance classes. I am learning to play the bass guitar. My early work with developmentally disabled and severely mentally ill adults has helped me to develop a creative–almost “playfulâ€â€“approach to helping trauma, depression, and mental illness. Through movement, music, and art, children and adults with severe distress can feel moments of freedom and fun in the process of growing from their pain.
Training in a values-based program was a high priority for me; therefore, I received my master’s degree at Liberty University in a program that integrated Christianity with psychology. Sometimes individuals misinterpret and misapply God’s teachings in a way that increases distress and harms relationships. My training and experience can help you clarify your values and apply them in the loving, ennobling way that God intended.
My experience working with domestic violence has prepared me to specialize in helping troubled relationships where spouses may be asking, “Should I go or should I stay?†Many men and women do not understand what healthy relationship boundaries looks like. This is especially true when sincere Christian spouses become confused about the role of forgiveness in relationships where there is manipulation and betrayal. I can help you know what is harmful and helpful in your marital relationship in the context of your deeply held spiritual beliefs.
