About

First off, thanks so much for stopping by to checkout my profile! Maybe you are new to online counseling, or maybe you are a seasoned, virtual client. Either way, I'm eager to connect with you and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Seeking online or face to face counseling takes courage, as well as one of the most important attributes a client can possess...MOTIVATION. I view therapy as a very team based approach, because at the end of the day, only you can make the desired changes. In a nutshell, I believe people begin experiencing problems when there is a lack of balance and authenticity in their lives. Achieving balance takes awareness that a problem exists, insight, and tools. You already have the awareness, hence the contemplation of therapy. That is all you need to get started and I'll be here to help you figure out the rest.

Specialty

Qualifications

Education
I am an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), licensed in the state of LA (#5151). I also have two national certifications: NCC (National Certified Counselor) and DCC (Distance Credentialed Counselor). The latter being a credential I earned to ensure you are receiving a high standard (ethical and effective) of online counseling. Some of my specializations include: self-esteem; relationship issues; working with victims of domestic violence; trauma processing/healing; coping skills; grief/bereavement; stress management; anger management; self care; addiction consultation; and MET (Motivational Enhancement Therapy). Although my theoretical orientation primarily tends to be CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), I sometimes shift to a more eclectic approach (therapeutic techniques are drawn from different theories). Why not use just one, you may be thinking. Because just like everything else in life, one size does not fit all. I believe part of what makes an intuitive and effective counselor is being able to know when to choose one technique over another. Being rigidly anchored to one way of conducting therapy can produce some pretty limited results...not what we are aiming for!

Here's a few personal tidbits about me...I am a military spouse and mother of a tiny angel, my baby girl. My husband and I are both originally from Louisiana but currently reside in the beautiful state of Washington. I am an animal lover. I have a Mastiff named Rupert and a rescue Pitbull named Daisy. I am the youngest of four siblings. I am a certified makeup artist...my #2 passion after counseling. I love the outdoors, hiking, and really anything fitness related. I entered my first fitness contest back in August and had a blast. I love cooking. And eating. I also truly love helping others and feel deep gratitude when others share their vulnerable side with me. Being a counselor makes me feel complete and challenged. I am good at what I do because I sincerely enjoy it. All the education in the world can't make you a great therapist. I have a deep sense of compassion for others' suffering and always have...it's just the way I'm wired. Those attributes, coupled with your desire to change, makes for a potentially amazing, therapeutic partnership.
