About
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that has been working in the mental health field since 1998. Born and raised in El Salvador, I moved to the United States to pursue both a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA. After completing the BA, I returned to El Salvador to complete requirements needed to be able to practice as a Psychotherapist there.
I have been described by clients as having a down-to earth style as a counselor and I have an approach to treatment that combines experience, education, and a sense of humor. I offer an integrative approach using client-centered, traditional psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques. My theory is that when people have hope and can learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, they are free to experience change and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives.
I work with adults, teenagers, families, and couples dealing with the following issues: sexual abuse, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, acculturation issues, phase of life changes, life transitions, grief and loss, relationship issues in couples and families, Anxiety/Depression, PTSD, communication and conflict resolution, self-harm/suicide and parenting support.
